Gaza Medics struggling in face of overwhelming disasters as medical supplies run low
As the conflict in Gaza continues to happen, there has been a shortage of medical supplies, the
UN health agency has been telling us with caution that more of the Gazans will die if there are
not medical evacuations for the sick or people that are injured. There are about 10,000 Gazan
citizens that are needed to have urgent transport that is outside of Gaza for treatment but since
May 6 there has been no medical evacuations outside of Gaza which has become a huge
problem. Another main issue is that the attacks in Rafah soil have continued and most of the
civilians lack the necessary utilities such as food, water, and shelter which are the necessary
items needed for a chance of survival. In response the main reason for the extreme difficulty to
provide aid in Gaza is due to the fact that there have been hostilities and a more challenging
logistical condition and coordination procedures that have been tampering with delivering the aid
inside Gaza. A main solution offered is that there is a need for support in reconstructing the Gaza
health system to ensure peace and sustainability.
This article relates to emergency disasters because it may not be a natural disaster that is
causing the storage of medical supplies in Gaza but a human-caused disaster due to most of the
roads being closed off due to the brewing which caused most of the roads for transportation to be
blocked. According to the UN Agency for Palestine refugees there is an escalation of the
hostilities and issuance of evacuation orders that have been trying to succeed more then 940,000
people from the Rafah in the past three weeks. In addition, there has been reports that in plenty
of the Gazan health facilities there has been a huge amount of fuel and medical supplies
shortage, and physicians are trying to help with coping with a higher rise of the causalities in
injuries and burns and there is a higher need for people to donate blood for any injuries and
blood transfusion work. It was reported that only about 137 humanitarian aid workers were
issued in relation the disaster in Gaza, there was about 86 transportations that were hindered by
getting a green light or being denied access and there was about 43 that were cancelled by each
of the organizers. Furthermore, in Gaza there are healthcare professionals that can be able to
focus more on the reconstruction of the healthcare system ordering more supplies to help with
the mass casualties.
